About French Studio

Who we are

French Studio is a neighbourhood French school rooted in East Coast, where heritage shophouses, young families, international schools, cafes and after-school routines all meet in the same few streets.

The school grew around learners who wanted French to feel close by and familiar: adults coming after work, children walking in after school, francophone families keeping French alive at home, and newcomers to Singapore looking for a gentle local routine.

French Studio is now part of the French Toast family, while keeping its own East Coast identity. Students learn mainly through the East Coast centre, with selected Novena and online options when the timetable needs to bend.

Some learners come for travel or conversation, some for DELF, IB or IGCSE, and many families come because they need a steady French pathway that can follow a child across school years.

French Studio Singapore presentation

A neighbourhood school, not a lecture hall

French Studio is meant to feel personal. Classes are serious about pronunciation, grammar, listening and writing, but the atmosphere stays warm and direct. Teachers know when a learner needs correction, when a child needs reassurance, and when a class needs to practise one more time before moving on.

East Coast first

The East Coast centre sits near Katong, Marine Parade and Joo Chiat, in a part of Singapore shaped by Peranakan heritage, expat families, old shophouses, beach weekends and school pick-ups. Being part of French Toast gives learners a wider class family, but the East Coast rhythm remains French Studio’s own.

MOE registered

French Studio Singapore is registered with MOE as a private school. For families, this is especially important when a child studies French in lieu of mother tongue or needs letters, certificates or consistent documentation for school requirements.

Native and qualified French teachers

The teaching team is made up of native French speakers and qualified French educators with experience in FLE, French as a foreign language, and FLM, French as a mother tongue. Lessons are teacher-led, but never distant: students are expected to speak, ask, try, make mistakes and try again.

Why learn French?

At French Studio, French often begins with ordinary East Coast life: a child’s school pathway, a parent planning ahead, a family connection, a move abroad, a work opportunity or the simple pleasure of understanding another culture a little better.

For children in Singapore schools

French can become part of a child’s long-term education plan, especially for French-in-lieu of mother tongue, second-language or third-language pathways. East Coast families often need something practical: documentation when required, a class that fits the week, and teachers who understand school-year pressure.

For exam confidence

Students preparing for DELF, DALF, IB, IGCSE, O-Level, A-Level or school assessments need more than extra vocabulary. They need method, timing, oral practice, writing structure and feedback that matches the exam format.

For adults starting properly

Adult beginners often want a clear route into French without feeling lost after the first few lessons. A structured course helps pronunciation, grammar and conversation grow together, so students can keep going beyond the first module.

For families with French at home

Bilingual and francophone families may want children to keep reading, writing and speaking French while growing up in Singapore. FLM and francophone-style classes give children a peer group, not just another task on the family calendar.

For work and relocation

Professionals learn French for assignments, client relationships, company training, relocation or future study abroad. Lessons can focus on useful communication instead of abstract textbook situations.

For life in and beyond Singapore

French becomes easier to maintain when it has a local routine. A class near Katong or Marine Parade can become part of the week: school, coffee, class, home, and a little more French each time.

Learning French with us

Our mission

French Studio exists to make French learning clear, lively and sustainable. Students should leave class knowing what they practised, what improved, and what to try next before the following week.

Our vision

We want French Studio to feel like the East Coast home for French within the wider French Toast family: close enough for families to return to, structured enough for serious progress, and warm enough that students keep daring to speak.

Our teaching approach

Classes are built around guided speaking, listening, reading and writing tasks. Teachers use conversation, role play, books, correction and cultural context, with enough repetition for confidence and enough variety for the class to stay alive.

A welcoming team

A good language class depends on trust. The team keeps the classroom approachable, answers questions carefully and helps students feel comfortable making mistakes, because that is usually where the useful work begins.
