About French Studio

Who we are

French Studio is a Singapore-based French school built around one language and one clear promise: help learners use French with confidence, whether they are adults starting from zero, children following a school pathway, or professionals preparing for work with French-speaking partners.

The school opened in 2011 and grew from the East Coast community into a centre for group classes, private tuition, exam preparation, French-in-lieu support, Francais Langue Maternelle and corporate training. The experience is deliberately personal: small groups, teacher feedback, and a rhythm that makes progress visible from one module to the next.

French Studio students learn at East Coast, Novena or online. Some come for travel or conversation, some for DELF, IB or IGCSE, and many families come because they need a reliable long-term French pathway for children in Singapore.

A French school with values

The school is designed to feel focused without feeling rigid. Lessons are serious about pronunciation, grammar, listening and writing, but the atmosphere stays friendly, practical and human. The aim is not only to complete a syllabus; it is to help students enjoy returning to French every week.

East Coast and Novena centres

French Studio's East Coast centre sits in Katong, surrounded by Marine Parade, Joo Chiat shophouses, cafes and East Coast Park. The classrooms are calm, comfortable and equipped for language work. Novena gives students a central option for weekday and weekend classes, especially when school, office or family schedules make location matter.

MOE registered

French Studio Singapore is registered with MOE as a private school. For families, this is especially important when a child studies French in lieu of mother tongue or needs letters, certificates or consistent documentation for school requirements.

Native and qualified French teachers

The teaching team is made up of native French speakers and qualified French educators with experience in FLE, French as a foreign language, and FLM, French as a mother tongue. Teachers correct, explain, encourage and adapt, so learners practise actively instead of only listening to a lesson.

Why learn French?

At French Studio, people learn French for very different reasons: a child’s school pathway, a future exam, a family connection, a move abroad, a work opportunity or simply the pleasure of speaking another language well.

For children in Singapore schools

French can become part of a child’s long-term education plan, especially for French-in-lieu of mother tongue, second-language or third-language pathways. Families often need continuity, documentation and a class rhythm that can follow the child across school years.

For exam confidence

Students preparing for DELF, DALF, IB, IGCSE, O-Level, A-Level or school assessments need more than extra vocabulary. They need method, timing, oral practice, writing structure and feedback that matches the exam format.

For adults starting properly

Adult beginners often want a clear route into French without feeling lost after the first few lessons. A structured course helps pronunciation, grammar and conversation grow together, so students can keep going beyond the first module.

For families with French at home

Bilingual and francophone families may want children to keep reading, writing and speaking French while growing up in Singapore. FLM and francophone-style classes help French stay active outside everyday home conversation.

For work and relocation

Professionals learn French for assignments, client relationships, company training, relocation or future study abroad. Lessons can focus on useful communication instead of abstract textbook situations.

For life in and beyond Singapore

French becomes easier to maintain when it has a local routine. Studying at East Coast, Novena or online gives learners regular contact with teachers and classmates while connecting them to French-speaking cultures worldwide.

Learning French with us

Our mission

French Studio exists to make French learning clear, lively and sustainable. A student should leave class knowing what they practised, what improved, and what to work on next.

Our vision

We want French Studio to be the place in Singapore where learners of different ages and nationalities can build a real relationship with French: for school, work, family, travel, exams or simple pleasure.

Our teaching approach

Classes are built around guided speaking, listening, reading and writing tasks. Teachers use conversation, role play, course books, correction and cultural context so students understand how French works and also dare to use it.

A welcoming team

A good language class depends on trust. Our team keeps the classroom approachable, answers questions carefully and helps students feel comfortable making mistakes, because that is where progress starts.
